BREAKING: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to leave club at end of the season

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal's manager has announced he will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Ending a near 22 year career at Arsenal.

In a statement released on arsenal.com, Wenger said:


“After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season.
“I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years.
“I managed the club with full commitment and integrity.
“I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special.
“I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high.
“To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club.
"My love and support for ever."

Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke described the announcement as "one of the most difficult days we have ever had in all our years in sport".


The move will end Wenger's near 22 reign at the club.

Wenger said former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira "has the potential" to succeed him; However, Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has been linked with the job and is currently a favourite at the bookies.


Arsenal say a successor will be appointed "as soon as possible".
